Where’s my Toothbrush?
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

So. Many. New. Things. This website, for one thing. It’s new. My last author picture was taken about twenty years ago, so I needed a refresh. Plus, in those days, I had an entire IT team available when I got a message like, “Verify your domain or die.” Okay, not that last word, but it often felt that way for a techie-challenged writer.
My website needed a more user-friendly home, and I found one. Thank you, Jesus. Even so, I have dropped and dragged a bunch of different ideas as I tried to put this space together. It is my primary home on the big ol' World Wide Web, so I want it to be nice. Making a home, being a wife and mother, is my ultimate career goal. This website is an extension of my home.
I hope you feel welcome here. I wish I could offer you a cold drink and a warm cookie from a fancy bakery down the street. Because I do not bake cookies. The kitchen skill set is severely lacking in my chosen field of service, despite the fact that I won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year Award in 1974. I still have the little charm on my bracelet.
Making a home is about more than food, of course. Building a business, raising a child, writing a book, loving a spouse, and enjoying God. Those are all about much more than any individual component. Thank goodness.
Something new always causes a bit of angst. My friend, Darin, tells the students coming into Bible College that it will take them six weeks to grow accustomed to which shelf holds their toothbrush. These are important matters. Being able to reach for one’s toothbrush without thinking frees up so much brain space for tackling the bigger issues of life. Like Church History or Relational Theology. For me, it is more like which novel to write next or how to pray for the person who poured their heart out to me yesterday.
Whatever new thing you are facing today, I hope you have a breakthrough. May you find exactly the right widget for your project, meet the perfect person for your team, and step into a glorious new level of glorifying God and enjoying Him forever. (Westminster Shorter Catechism)
Most of all, may you experience deep peace in the process and great hope for the future. Pass the cookies.
Blessings
Kathy
